The Docket – Episode 13: Mark Bourrie
So there is this election thing happening – during elections politicians make announcements, give speeches, and say lots of stuff. There are usually reporters there to hear what the politicians have to say. Sometimes these reporters are allowed to ask questions, often they are not. Over the last 10 years the Conservative government has marginalized the press and muzzled scientists – seemingly in an effort to deliver carefully crafted canned talking points.
There is no better person to talk government and the press than Mark Bourrie, author of the best selling book Kill the Messengers: Stephen Harper’s Assault on Your Right to Know.
Bourse tells it like it is, we talk about freedom of the press, evidence based policy decisions, and even a little Duffy – oh and we also dig into the dumpster that is internet comments and do a bit of garbage clowning.
